HousegroupsWhy join a house group?People have found that it helps them to:
What is a house group? It's a small group of people who come to our church regularly and also like to meet together for bible study, discussion, prayer, chat, laughter, sharing and support. This way people get to know each other better and a feeling of trust and real fellowship can develop. Groups are about 8 - 10 people. Where do house groups meet?In a house! Some groups always meet in the same house, others move around, meeting in the homes of different group members. But there is never any pressure on anyone to have the group in their home - that's your choice. What sort of people go to house groups? All sorts! Some groups have people of all ages, from "senior citizens" to young students, others have mainly people at the same age and stage of life. But groups can change in time as people have to leave and new people want to join. It's not a lifetime commitment! Who leads a house group? Most groups have a person or a couple who "looks after" the group. In most groups, people who want to do so take turns to lead the bible study and prayer. But there is absolutely no expectation that everyone will do this - it's your choice. At prayer times, you can pray out loud or silently - just as you wish. Some people just say a few words or one sentence - it's very informal. Womens' Afternoon Fellowship outing to North Berwick, June 2006 To find out more
